LIGHTING & FIXTURES

Lighting that was planned, not just plugged in

Recessed lighting, ceiling fans, under-cabinet runs, landscape and dock lighting. The install is the easy half; the part that matters is putting it on the right circuit with the right switching so you are not living with three-way switches that fight each other.

HOW IT GOES

The process, start to finish

01

Layout first

We plan spacing and switching on paper before cutting a single hole, including which fixtures share a dimmer and where the switches ought to live.

02

Circuit check

New lighting goes on a circuit that can carry it. Adding fourteen cans to whatever was nearest is how you end up with a nuisance-tripping breaker.

03

Install and trim

Cut, run, mount, and trim. We patch what we open and clean up the drywall dust rather than leaving it for you.

04

Dial in the dimming

LED and dimmers are a fussy pairing. We match the dimmer to the fixture and check for flicker and buzz across the whole range before we call it done.

PRICING

What lighting work costs

Recessed lighting typically runs $180–$350 per can installed, with the per-fixture cost dropping as the count goes up on a single job. A ceiling fan into an existing fan-rated box is usually $180–$280; adding a box and a switch leg where none exists is more. Outdoor and landscape lighting is quoted per run after a walk of the property.

QUESTIONS

Lighting & Fixtures questions

Usually yes, but the existing box almost certainly is not fan-rated. We replace it with one that is, because a standard box will eventually let a wobbling fan down through the ceiling.
Nearly always a dimmer built for incandescent load driving an LED fixture, or too few watts on the circuit for the dimmer's minimum. Matching the dimmer to the fixture fixes it, and it is a cheap fix.
Yes, including low-voltage landscape runs and lake-adjacent dock lighting around Cornelius and Mooresville, where the outdoor-rating and GFCI requirements are stricter.
